ABOUT THE EVENT

Since becoming SEC Chair, Paul Atkins has initiated many wide-ranging actions and has often moved the SEC in a completely different direction than the prior administration. For example, Chair Atkins has focused on “Making IPOs Great Again” by, among other things, reducing the complexity of being a public company, eliminate “disclosure bloat”, proposed allowing companies to move to semiannual reporting and putting forward a policy statement allowing companies to include mandatory arbitration provisions in their charters. In addition to disclosure issues and IPOs, Chair Atkins is working to substantially modify the Wells process as well as refocus the Division of Enforcement in many ways and has initiated “Project Crypto” to modernize the securities laws to make the US the “crypto capital of the world".

What is the impact of Chair Atkins’ actions and policy statements? What steps will he take to implement his decisions, and how will the Commission evolve in the coming year?
